About

Hmmm, ok, a little about me, (without this sounding like an RSVP profile -ha!), I’m 36 and have been photographing for the last ten years. Previously I concentrated on ‘Action Sports’ and with my mate Rob Taylor we began mayhem-images.com.  I covered all types of Dirt Bike events, the standouts being the official photographer for the Dirt Action Magazine Amcross Series for three years as well as covering Crusty Demons of Dirt Unleashed tour and the X Games. At that stage I also covered the Street Machine Summernats for three years running, and also did work with the V8 Utes for Hi Tech Motorsport.

I moved to Sydney a little while ago and decided to give motocross photography a miss and was pretty much resigned to the fact that there wouldnt be a whole heap of photographing being done. However I started to get the bug pretty quickly so decided to start photoing Sydney, its beauty and a bit of its grungy side as well. This then led to photographing  people as well, and after a few guinea pigs I have recommenced shooting weddings again. All of this has gone against everything I was ever interested in photographing previously, if it didnt involve motors or people living on the edge, I wasnt overly interested. All that changed when I realised how hard it was to convey emotion in photos of people, and how rewarding it was when you finally ‘nailed’ one.

All this emotion and people photography then led me to my latest and greatest love from behind the lens: Music photography. There has been nothing more rewarding than witnessing and capturing things like the raw energy of [Me], the legendary rock attitude of Slash, the honesty and emotion of the Maxine Kauter Band or the great feeling of fun of Musk. All I hope is that when people see my photos they get a small taste of what I was feeling at the time, goosebumps and all!

I gotta finish with two things: firstly a huge thankyou to people like Fiona Stace who helped me put this piece of internet space together and has also been the rocket up my arse when I started to wonder whether I could be bothered doing any of this. My Mum and brother have also been ‘believers’ who encouraged me to keep shooting and have fun doing it.  Thankyou to the bands I cover especially the ones that are receptive and are as interested in my work as I am in their music. Kudos to Groove Mag for taking a punt and letting me cover events like Soundwave and Supafest. Also, to anyone who has joined my Facebook page and commented on a photo, thankyou!  Sometimes just having someone ‘Like’ a photo is reward enough.

And lastly, this is the bit where I ‘whore’ myself and tell you I’m available to photo anything you think requires capturing, from sitdown portraits, music gigs to weddings and corporate events. Most of my photos are available for sale that you see on this site, subject to copyright laws, so if you see something you like and are interested, drop me a line. My rates are reasonable: they start from a bottle of vodka and go up from there! ;)

So that’s me, and this is my website. Take your time, kick your shoes off, grab a beer and have a look around and enjoy the world through my eyes (and lens for that matter).  Feel free to leave comments or even drop me a line at caphoto10@gmail.com

Stick around, and enjoy the ride! Peace. :)

So today is the day it goes live!!

Great to see this site up and running, it’s been way too long in the making. Witnessing the evolution from hi-speed shots to rock photography has been so interesting.

The “Rocket up your arse” thing is less about seeing good photos and more about seeing you do what makes you happy. Helping with setting up FB pages and carrying your gear (sneakily using your cameras..), traipsing along and staking out patches of grass in secret locations (NYE) and finally setting up this here blog is about the adventure of seeing where freelance photography can take us and the fun that is had along the way. I’m so pleased it kept you motivated to have an awesome/annoying sidekick.

This comment was supposed to be short and sweet but after reading your lengthly Intro the writing juices started to flow and it seems I too have been struck with the inability to stop!

    Keep it real.
